Time and sin have always interested me. What amount of time covers sin? I remember that I cannot give time to anyone, I cannot give trust back to someone.
Neglecting truth constantly shows that there is something to truth being distant in time.
We always might say "refresh my memory." Or "that just happened, I remember." .
What does it take for time with reconciliation to claim the memory of those wronged?
Certainly some people have much better memories than others, a blessing and a curse, for both parties.
You might remember forever what someone did to you. Facing daily to forgive them in your heart as God has constantly forgives you. Or you might forget the wrongs done to you and also forget what wrongs you have received grace for.
In both cases there is an infinite amount of grace being spilled out for us.
I was just scanning my topical Bible and was not surprised to see that even Jesus' disciples needed to be reminded not only of what Jesus had already told them but of words from the Prophets.
When reading these words in my youth I thought of the disciples as bumbling idiots. The joke was on me. Now every time I read scripture it is as new constantly hearing the Spirit whisper, "don't you remember? Haven't you heard before? Did I not already tell you this? "
Now my mind is eager, knowing now that I see the disciples as kindred spirits in stupidity and as bold believers in action as they trained their minds for memory allowing the Spirit to work through them in their letters.
1 Peter 1
10 Concerning this salvation, the prophets who prophesied about the grace that was to be yours searched and inquired carefully,
11 inquiring what person or time the Spirit of Christ in them was indicating when he predicted the sufferings of Christ and the subsequent glories.
12 It was revealed to them that they were serving not themselves but you, in the things that have now been announced to you through those who preached the good news to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven, things into which angels long to look.
13 Therefore, preparing your minds for action, and being sober-minded, set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.
Peter, years after having his memory shaken by the call of a rooster, draws us a picture of how his memory being restored and trained understood that his foundation is set by those prophets before him. That prophecy fulfilled in the hope of Christ. His voice anew, an unshaken foundation of the grace he saw from Christ after denying not once but three times.
I pray that my foundation be set and grows on these words. My thoughts not my own but His, and of His consistency in grace.
